( 0 / 0 )Don't forget it’s the NECRA regatta at Hartlepool this weekend. Three races, social events and discount mooring fees - see the poster at the link below. And don't forget, you'll already be there for the following weekend's festivities - the RNYC Trincomolee weekend!!
All you need to do is be a member of NECRA - costing the princely sum of £10 (although there's an extra £5 for late entries within 3 days of the event start!)
Sailing instructions and other information can be found on the NECRA web site

( 3 / 26 )As was announced last month, this is to confirm that commencing Tuesday 28th May, we will have Contractors-Thompsons of Prudhoe on site to strip off the asbestos roof and side walls and then demolish the frame.
We will be advising all those who have boats in this shed that they will be removed. We will endeavour to get them under cover but if this is not possible they should ensure adequate protection by the use of covers.
After the boats are removed, any materials still in the area that are unidentified will be removed with the demolished building.
Should anyone be thinking of having their boat put into the water during this time, please liaise with Ken Jones and it may be prudent to try and get her in before the work commences.
It is expected this work will take the full week to complete

( 3 / 30 )The EGM to discuss the issues of RNYC becoming a Company limited by guarantee, and also the potential submission of a Heritage Lottery Fund bid to undertake restoration work on our Club Ship HY Tyne, took place last night (Thursday 9th May)
A packed Club Ship was subjected to presentations by Mike Wade, Dave Morgan and myself before the various matters were put to the vote.
I am pleased to report that the voting, which was almost unanimous in agreement for all resolutions, means we will be instructing our solicitors to progress the formation of the Company limited by guarantee and will be seeking consultants to assist in the submission of our Heritage Lottery Fund bid.
Mike and I, on behalf of the Flag officers and General Committee, would like to thank all those of you who attended for doing so and showing such an interest in the major steps the Club is taking.
We take great heart from the level of approval the resolutions received, and look forward to your continued support in what I‘m sure will be exciting times in the future.
One of the huge short term benefits of the result, is that we are now able to return to the table with Port of Blyth and negotiate a lengthy lease that will secure our tenure for many years to come in what is anticipated to be a rapidly expanding commercial port environment.

( 3 / 30 )Late last night I checked the small crane only to find that the control box had been left open and the electric switched on.
Whoever forgot to close and switch off is leaving the club open to liability should any kids have started playing around with it.
The box should be closed whenever you are not using it even if you intend to return to finish a job.
This is a valuable club asset and should be treated with the same respect you treat your own property.
