        Sad news. Alan Wilkinson, a former Commodore of RNYC died yesterday, Friday 27 January 2012. We send condolences to family and friends.

        The funeral will be at 1230 on Friday 10 February at St Mary's Church, Ilfracombe Gardens, Whitley Bay.

      • RNYC Points Series Double Race Days

        Sailing Committee have had a long discussion about what the format of our RNYC Points Series Double Race Days. The idea was that these events really do take up the whole day, and that may be a contributing factor in low turnouts of boats and crews.

        The three considered options are:<

      • 1st Wednesday Meeting 1 February 2012

        Pete Nicholson will talk give an illustrated talk on "The Port of Blyth - from Salt to Turbines". Pete is standing in. His talks are always good fun, so please come along on Wednesday 1st Feb to HY Tyne at 2000 and give him your support.

        NB This meeting is on WED 1 Feb at 2000.

        We want to put on a series of fun events for cruisers and racers during early June 2012.

        We need volunteers to help us develop ideas and set everything in motion as time is moving on quickly. Ideally this will be similar to East Coast Sailing week last year but with fun in mind for all.

        We are looking to train volunteers as Hoist drivers or Banksmen who will direct the hoist whilst it is in motion in the yard. If you would like to join the team, ideally you should be available at any time, please contact in the first instance Mike Wade

      • AGM - Change of Venue

        Due to a slight misunderstanding about which Thursday was which in January, the HY Tyne has been double booked on the evening of Thursday 19th January 2012.

        It has therefore been decided to change the venue of the AGM, leaving the member who has their function arranged for that evening to

      • Pontoon Bridges

        Please note over the next few days the pontoon bridges will be removed in turn and replaced with repaired and upgraded models.

        There will be remporay bridging made from plywood.

        Please take care when crossimg them as they may well be slippy in the present weather pattern

      • Boat Yard Electrics.

        Following an electrical survey on the boat yard electrics it was found that some,not all,were in a dangerous condition.

        Those that are proved to be unsafe have been disconnected and must not be reinstated.

        There are notices in the affected ares,if you reconnect them
