( 3 / 102 )Hello Folks!
This is probably the last email you'll get from us in New Zealand as the plan is to leave Opua tomorrow (Thursday) to sail up to Vanuatu, making Tanna our first stop. I haven't updated the webpages with our doings around the Bay of Islands. but suffice it to say that after a night and a day of windy, torrential rain, we think it's time to leave NZ and move back towards the equator: we don't do this cold weather any more, having turned into wimps.
I wish we had been able to go back to Auckland, but times just moved on too quickly.
I hope that those of you in the northern hemisphere have a good summer, and that those in the southern can get well wrapped up for your winter. For the yachties, fair winds and safe passage - and it was good to see Mette of Chennakker, who came over yesterday and stayed with us overnight. I wonder why I've got a headache this morning?
Love to you all
Linda and Andy XXX

( 3 / 87 )Its been a while ...
I've had an unwanted extended Easter holiday and a poorly girl who is now thankfully a lot better .
The Spring series came and went last weekend .
The Murray Mission to make A W Pet faster seems to have worked .
The freshly cast keel bulb has done the trick , they won with a race to spare .Well done guys ! Just don't mention the depleted uranium used in the casting eh ?
The moorings are filling up nicely , weather has been reasonable , yachts are out and about ... boat yard busy also .. folk trying to get in the water as soon as possible now . My boat is still in the bloo shed , I do hope the boys at ABC are progressing well ... we need to sail !
The Club racing starts v soon , a few changes this year , a few moans as well ... the old timers may not like changes ? never mind , we will see how it all works out .
I missed the fitting out supper , was it good ?
How is the new galley working out ?
What else have I missed ?
Any good tales we should know of ?
Do you like your mooring ?
Any sea squirt action ?
How are those new sails ?
Has the new boom arrived yet ?
Any interesting boat yard accidents ?
When will Dereks boat and mast be united ?
Are you planning to sail in company to Norway 2011 ?
What will Mr Jackson hit this year ?
Any interesting wildlife spotted ?
The summer of 2010 is going to be a cracker for sailing . So you can plan those longer trips and head off for those far off places .. St Abbs ?
Hartlepool ? ( just joking ) , Whitby ? Shetlands ?
So where are you going ? we are interested .
More soon ,
Doug .

( 3 / 72 )Shake, Rattle (and even roll if you like) to help the local Lifeboats
The Gosforth Ladies Lifeboat Guild are a small local fundraising branch of the RNLI who give up their time in order to raise funds that are passed to the North Region of the RNLI.
They recently raised over £1000 packing shopping bags at Marks & Spencers.
Their next project is to have a collection at Tesco Extra, Kingston Park, Newcastle.
In order to maximise the opportunity they are looking for helpers who will be willing to give a couple of hours of their time to rattle a collection tin under the noses of those shopping at Tesco Extra on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd May 2010.
If you feel you can help then please give Jenny Fisher a call on 0191 285 3501
