Charges

The Boat Lift is in operation with a team of volunteer operators, and can be utilised by all members to lift their boats in or out of the water. There is an additional facility of a 'lift & hold' to enable a wash down or damage check.

We will endeavour to accommodate your requirements. Some lifting requests may not be possible dependant on the availability of our volunteers. The more notice you give, the better your chances!

You need at least 2 crew on board your boat to assist the boat lift team.

RNYC has 2 cradles that are available for short term hire. Should you require one of these cradles please inform the Boat lift driver at the time of arranging the lift. They will then advise on how to book the cradle.

Payment is required within 7 days of the lift. You will be invoiced by Asst Treasurer (Yacht Dues).

Preparation before lifting

In every case :

• Book Lift
• Organise a tractor driver if necessary
• A minimum of two of your crew are required to assist the boat lift team.

Before lifting out:

• Check boatyard for space allocation:-
• Check trailer (jacks work - grease if necessary, air in tyres, wheels turn, general safety.)
• Check that you have all the necessary equipment for dismasting (pliers spanners hammer etc.)
• Loosen Standing rigging
• Withdraw log
• Obtain spar trolley
• Decide where vessel is to be slung, bearing in mind prop / drive shaft configuration

Wearing of 'Hi-Viz' jackets is compulsory. These are available from the hoist operator - (Please return the jackets!)

NO PERSON SHALL BE IN THE VICINITY OF THE HOIST WHEN IT IS WORKING UNLESS DIRECTLY CONCERNED WITH THE LIFTING OPERATION TAKING PLACE

Rates for boat lifts

Boat lifts are only available to Royal Northumberland Yacht Club members.

Type of Lift Rate

• Lift in or out, to or from trailer, cradle etc. (includes mast lift¹) £59.00*
• Lift & hold then return to water £59.00*
• Mast lift (not as part of boat lift) £11.24*
• Engine lift - or other use of crane £11.24*

* Members of the Boat Lift Loan Scheme or Boat Lift Bonds Scheme may be entitled to discounts as indicated by their scheme membership documents.

Note 1 - Mast lift charges are only inclusive of the boat lift, if carried out as part of the same operation.
